A resistor is a passsive component, which does nothing much more than
"have
resistance" although cack buildup can make them burn out, more often
than
not, you will be looking at whatever component that is pumping current into
that resistor being faulty.
Not to mention that if this resistor has been getting much more than design
levels of current/voltage, probably other ocmponents in the same area will
have been overstressed also..
The short version, don't repair a TV yourself.
