Re: IPAQ, CF & PCMCIA
I'm not upset at all. You gotta expect
that
type of thing. Point is it's still upgradeable if you want.
Most
other PDAs aren't. No reason not to install other apps in the main
memory
either, like you have to do with the latest Media Player
anyway!
Some early iPAQs also have 32 meg ROM I
believe
(Li?) as 16 meg ROM chips were in such short supply.

sorry to upset everyone, but I think you should
check
here
Paul
I have read there will be a standard and
advanced (something like that) version of Merlin, designed for 16 and 32
meg
machines respectively. Dunno if this means their RAM or ROM
though?
Certainly does seem that flash upgradeable
machines like iPAQ will be able to get the new OS.

Thanks Mark.
Now I just have to resist buying one for
the moment and wait for the new version & hopefully the prices will
drop.
Does anyone know if it will be possible to
upgrade an old IPAQ with the new MS Pocket PC version that is out
soon?

Yep...this is no problem. This is how
I use my Micro Drive in the iPAQ.

I am thinking of getting an IPAQ but was wondering
if there is any reason why I could not use a PCMCIA to CF
adapter so I only have to buy a PCMCIA sleeve but can still use CF
cards. Anyone tried
this?
Cheers
Justin
