If you can hear the fan noise then the movie isn't loud enough...

...if the neighbours complain about the noise then do what we used to do. Invite them round for beer, pizza and a movie!

Pedro,

The MT series from Toshiba is good and reasonably quite with a reasonable picture but it cannot replace a standard CRT telly in all conditions, you *have* to have a darkened room for both LCD and CRT projectors. Fan noise is just something we all put up with ‘cause basically there is not a lot of options without spending loads of dosh.

Hi all

I am considering buying a projector and asked a colleague to lend me his to try out.  As a replacement for a TV I would have expected (wanted) a better quality image but I suppose that is the shortfall for having suck a large display - this I may be able to live with.  What concerned me was the amount of noise that came from the projectors fan when operating.  Surely this is a noisy one and there are projectors out there that are much more silent - can anyone recommend a silent one (not silly money) .  In other words - I can get this past SWMBO if it doesn't make a lot of noise otherwise "OUT".

The model I borrowed is the InFocus LP400

Cheers

Pedro de Oliveira
