and that is my price bracket - looks like I will have to put up with the
noise
or stick to watching DVD on my telly

The only silent projectors I've come across have been DWIN CRT
projectors ... Barco also used to do one that was without fans. Afraid
these
are big CRT muthers though and the thick end of £6k minimum - there are no
silent LCD/DLP ones due to the immense heat generated by the
bulbs.

Hi
all
I am
considering buying a projector and asked a colleague to lend me his to try
out. As a replacement for a TV I would have expected (wanted) a
better quality image but I suppose that is the shortfall for having suck a
large display - this I may be able to live with. What concerned me
was the amount of noise that came from the projectors fan when
operating. Surely this is a noisy one and there are projectors out
there that are much more silent - can anyone recommend a silent one (not
silly money) . In other words - I can get this past SWMBO if it
doesn't make a lot of noise otherwise "OUT".
The model I
borrowed is the InFocus LP400
