Dan,

Thanks for the rapid reply.

I have a mono iPaq which is getting, in round terms, zero use. (I won it
at a conference!) I don't have any ePods.

I have a HomeVision, and was wondering how best to start extending its
functionality (say, with voice control), so obviously looked at the ACE
website. Then I noticed the line that read "...Epod... may work on
other...."

I have "many" old laptops, so I was thinking of a laptop UNDER my
bed,
with the iPaq on my bedside table as an alternative handheld controller
to the Pronto. Given I already have the iPaq...

Mark,

ACE-Epod only works on an epod. It will not run on the iPaq since the
iPaq
uses a different processor. Also, ACE-Epod can only connect to ACE
Server
via a TCP/IP connection, so the serial connection will not work.
However, I
have used a product called Mocha PPP that gives the epod a TCP
connection
over the serial port and this does work.

I have a request from Mark McCall to re-compile ace-epod for the ipaq,
but
have not gotten around to it yet. Is there a wish/need to connect
webpad
devices via serial in addition to network? I assume there is, hence
your
post.

Does anyone know the settings required in Embedded Visual Basic 3.0 for
compiling an iPaq project? I don't have an ipaq to test with.
