....but of course I had to!
I made the "mistake" of borrowing an LCD projector from a fellow
group
member for the purposes of demoing to another couple of group members who
are possibly interested in one for Home Cinema use ... well, the big
advantage of LCD over CRT projectors is that they *CANNOT* suffer from
screen burn (which can happen quite easily with static images on CRT
projection tubes). Obviously the biggest culprit for static images except
for security cameras is video games - especially when you're like me and
believe that the Playstation 2 can only play Gran Turismo 3!
Anyway, whilst having the LCD at home I decided to just try the PS2 through
it ... holy shit! To say the experience is immersive is doing it an
injustice. I had my best man and his partner round the other night and we
were playing GT3 and all four of us were leaning into corners etc!
Anyway ... since the LCD projector goes back to its owner tomorrow after
the
last demo then I eventually cracked and fed it into the video scaler which
drives my CRT projector ... hmmm ... GT3 running at 1,280 x 1,024 as an
anamorphic widescreen upsampled image - LOVELY! Don't know whether I'll
risk
too much use of the PS2 on the projector but boy, is it fun!
I love my toys!
Phil
