Trust me Mark, I've got an S20. If I set it to medium resolution (which is the same as high res on the S10), 8x10 prints look grainy. For 8 x 10 at 200 lpi it needs 1600 x 2000 resolution, which spookily works out at 3.3 mp which is the resolution of the S20.

Not sure how pig I'll want to print but the Canon specs say S10 is good for upto 8 x 10 or something like that.  Remember it was just less than A4.

I want it for website stuff too.

Thanks

Mark,

If you want to print out A4 sized prints you'll need the S20. Print resolution needs to be at least 200 lines per inch (not the same as dpi, but related), and for that you'll need 3 mpixels. I learned all about this by going through the tutorial book "Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Studio Techniques" - it really is a useful guide for getting the best out of Photoshop.

If all you want it for is taking pictures for use on the web, then the S10 is more than sufficient. Most people format their pictures at 72 dpi for online use.

After the camera fest that was the London meet - I NEED a new digital camera :-)

My mate has a Canon S10 which is really everything I need (2.1 mega-pixel, Accepts IBM micro-drive, USB and has all the photo features I need).

I have found it on-line clearing (it's an old model) for 305 + VAT.  Anyone seen this any cheaper?

OR - anyone about to upgrade and got a digital camera to sell?

Thanks

M.
