Graham has already answered most of this, in progromaming terms the
selection of locations is a multiple directory browse list, you just add
all
the drives or directories in a drive you want it to search, it will look in
all subdirecties and get all the mp3's so provided the location is
addressable by a directory or drive you will have no problems.

Getting a IP address is done by DHCP by default, if that is not available
then it has a default IP which it can use or you can set the IP address
manualy. I am not sure what happens without DHCP if you are not in the
default subnet, byt it posible that there is some form of MAC address that
the server can identify with.
