Hi Andy,

The KAT5 AVS is capable of distributing S-Video and Stereo audio. That
requires all 4 pairs in the cable, 2 video circuits Y/C and 2 audio
circuits
L/R. There is no spare pair for the IR signal as there was in the original
composite video version.

The S-Video version can also be used for Composite video so is useable by
everyone. More and more kit is now S-Video enables and even if you cant use
S-Video at the moment, the KAT5 units you buy will not be obsolete when you
upgrade your AV kit.

Many people on the list have already implemented their own IR distribution
systems based on Nigel Orrs design using Ian Birds PCB's.

I believe I now have a way to add IR to the S-Video units but still need to
prototype and thoroughly test it. If it works as I hope then it will be
offered as an upgrade to existing customers.
