Extractor fans should have a TRIPLE pole isolator.

They are a really wide rocker with a fan symbol on them

Why 3 pole?

1. Permanent live (used for the timed running)
2. Switched Live ( used as a trigger for timed fans)
3. Neutral.

Yet more trivia ;-)

DOH! - You're absolutely right, - now you've said that, I remember
where/when, & why I thought I had read that - it was when I had a new
electric shower fitted last year... I bought a combined shower
light/extractor fan that can (should be?) switched by the same isolator
switch, as it operates on a timer to make sure that the fan continues
running for a few minutes after the shower has been switched off... That's
why I was getting confused with lighting circuits and the shower switch...
