Thats correct the CM12 is only an interface between the PC and the
household
power supplies. It has a standard 240v socket incorperated but this is not
controlled at all by x-10 and is just direct connected through.

The x-10 to RF transmitter strangly does have appliance module capabilities
though it is not very reliable as such and tends to stop work as an
appliance module after a time. (At least that was my experience and this
was
confirmed by Kwong at Laser)

No, I understand that it isn't ... as far as I am aware it is simply an
interface between the power line and the PC (plus a limited capability
controller).

Someone else mentioned to me about the CM12 having appliance module
capabilities though so perhaps someone can tell me otherwise.
