I have at work a 5 CD set of parts catalogue and technical stuff for all
Compaq items, I will have a look on that to see what I can see, just found
an exploded parts diagram of the M300 for Phil.

What exactly are you looking for? shutting down unexpectedly I suppose?
have you tried the MS web site? it might be a compatibility problem between
Compaq and MS (as if...)
It is http://support.microsoft.com/directory/
and look at the KnowledgeBase.
