The idea of the port is that an installer can basically connect their
laptop to the unit and effectively install/setup your amp in seconds...

at least that's what I suspect it's for....

What you really want is an RS232 <-> Ethernet adaptor to put your AMP
on
your network... Which would mean that with the LCD/KBD project you could
control it from almost anywhere!!!!!
