I use one of the Ross transmitter and wireless headphone receivers to
announce phone callers. Not brill quality but OK. Reasonably cheap too as
the speakers are powered PC ones.

Another very simple method is to use a wireless speaker system, like the
Ross ones available from ***lins. - these are relatively expensive, but you
must weigh that cost against the time & effort it would cost you to
figure
aout & implement an alternative solution, such as HV with relays, and
all
the cabling that would be required....

Then you could put a cordless speaker in the kids room, and put it on a
simple cheap timer plug to turn it off at bedtime, and on in the morning...

It really is as simple as plug & play - 5 minutes and it's all done! -
no
problems with zone control, - you just control each speaker invididually by
turning it on/off as appropriate, either by timer or by X10...
