This
unit seems t be in a different league t the monobloc from B & Q, it's
turned the room and neighbouring corridor in t a freezer compartment in
the
space of two hours. Noise wise, almost silent inside with a light
humming
on the exterior, you could easily sleep through it even on full
power.
The
big headache will be how t install it through the brick wall. I have
the
mounting kit but I think it will be a good challenge t chop out a 2ft by
1ft
slot in a double-brick wall (time t check the insurance). Wickes
seem t
have a surplus of these things in the Hertfordshire area, which may be a
bad
sign.

Actually this is a sensible comment but badly put ... those single
unit
ACs were originally intended for installation in US windows (similar t our
ols sash windows) hence the name window rattlers. They had the reputation
for
being unefficient, noisy and only lasting a couple of years. These ones
*MAY*
be different but again as effectively a single unit AC I'd be
wary...
Phil
Beware the window rattlers!
Phil
After the
earlier problems the Homebase unit is going back, just wasn't up t the
job. I have now found a unit at Wickes that is designed for
through-wall mounting. Has anyone experience of these units and
imparticular variations on the mounting options?
Steven
