Looks like catch 22 then.

It certainly is the reason i have never puchased a uk x10 module. Yet i
have
approx 30 X10 units here.

<<As far as I see it's the same as any emerging market ... it starts
slowly
and either fizzles out or grows ... however it isn't helped by people just
buying from overseas because it's cheaper as then the people that are
trying
to kick start the market are starved of sales. I'd love to have modules
that
I could get status reports from and I'm hoping that at some point soon they
are produced just like I'd love wall light switches that will do preset or
direct dim but I know that if I modify modules from the US then I'm not
supporting the UK dealers and also my home insurace people are going to be
rubbing their hands with glee if there's an accident and one torches my
house as they'll use that as a getout!>>

Having briefly worked in uk retail i seriously doubt homebase have made any
loss on the x10 kit overall.

<<At £89.99 for a timer kit I'm sure they made their money but I bet
you
that at £19.99 for a timer kit then they would have made a huge loss on
each
of those items. I don't know what price HB bought their stock in for but I
do know that the days of 35% markup have gone and I would *assume* that HB
were probably making no more than £15 on a timer kit.>>

Shit ... I'm starting to sound all "holier than thou", aren't I?

Phil
