When I added an extra 40GB HDD to my desktop
machine a year or so ago I had to upgrade the BIOS before it would
recognise the
drive properly (I only had 8GB in it before). I would guess that BIOSes can
probably handle any size up to the maximum available, but you may have to
make
sure that you have the latest version.

Query...
Does anyone know what the BIOS limit for IDE drives
is
nowadays? I have one machine which can't take any more than 8Gb and
three
that have a 32Gb limit (all limitations of the BIOS) ... I'm building
another PC at the moment and I was just wondering if anyone knew what
size
IDE drives the current
BIOS's support?
Cheers
Phil
