Ok, I'll give it a go (or maybe buy ZoneAlarm Pro).

There are issues with the standard ZoneAlarm and ICS. You need to reduce the security level for it to work.

ZoneAlarm Pro is ICS-aware and works fine for me. I used it OK with a Win2K machine running in single-proc mode. However, running dual-proc, the machine crashed every time another client attempted to access the internet. There are well known problems with the Alcatel USB modem and dual-proc machines. Without ICS, I didn't have too much problem but using ICS was impossible.

I now use ICS on a Win98 machine (though it only runs Win98 because it's also used for downloading to a Win9x-only compatible MP3 player) which does tend to need a reboot every few days, but other than that it's fine. I am, however, using ZoneAlarm Pro.

Cheers,
Steve

That's interesting!

I've failed miserably to get ICS working on my Win2k box running ZoneAlarm!

The eventlog logs an message saying it couldn't allocate a DHCP address to
the client.  Do you have any more info on this?

Cheers

Andy

Almost certainly - I have, however, heard of some problems using Win2k, ICS
and ZoneAlarm. I think that they were of the "server need rebooting every
few weeks" type rather than the "didn't work, lost data" sort.

Note that it _would_ be a breach of the terms of use (if this would be a
concern to you.)

Seriously thinking of going for ADSL in our office.

Anyone here got the 40 quid version?  If so can you share it round the LAN
using ICS?

We have no need for static IP or webserver in the office.

Thanks

M.
