ISTR that there was a thread about extending the range of
wireless LANs a few weeks ago?
If anyone is interested in extending the point to point range
of a 2.4GHz wireless LAN you could try using an antenna produced
for the 13cm (2.3-2.5Ghz) amateur radio band.
Sandpiper Communications based in South Wales supply to order
a 20 turn helix. Quoted gain is 17dbi (14dbd).
It is rear mounting and about 18 inches long.
I'm told that it costs £50 and delivery is usually within a
week.
You can contact Sandpiper on 01685 870425.
The other alternative is Directive Systems who are in Maine,
USA. They do 9,15,21 and 45 element loop yagis.
The 9 element one is about a foot in length and has a quoted
bandwidth of 2350-2450MHz and a gain of 11.5dbi.
The antenna costs about $50 and Directive will ship worldwide.
