I have home voice and IMHO it stinks, maybe that's too harsh -

No, That's about right, I get no better results than I do from Microsoft's
FREE speech engine and it has all the same problems.

1- cannot understand the children
2- cannot understand the wife

Hmm I do have a similar problem myself :)

3 - does not understand the difference between on and off reliably
4 - if you put on an American accent it understands you better!!

I really believe it is the worst thing I have purchased for home
automation,
I do not use it at all due to the above limitations and the service from
the
vendor (not supplier) is questionable.

Please note these are my opinions others may well feel differently.

Paul

Hi,

I am based in the uk, I am new and looking to automate my home quite
quickly
and have been researching some of the products available.

I am really checking that I am going down the right route before parting
with cash !!

I would like to get to the point whereby I have near complete control over
everything internaly by voice and then remotely over the web.
I have read the reviews on the voice products and I am currently leaning
towards the "Home Voice" product, does anyone have any views on
this ?

Prior to getting to my final goal, I believe I need to invest in some X10
products for the ability to control the range of electrical items in the
house, and the need for a central controller which again I have read the
reviews and ended up with a 2 horse race between Homeseer and HomeVision. I
am leaning more towards Homevision because of its standalone and
"TV"
ability.

Again can anyone comment on this.

Finally I am looking to purchase all of this for use in the UK,
Can UK spec be purchased abroad easily if so where ?
Or does anyone know a good UK supplier with good technical support should I
need it ?

Many thanks

Nigel
