Re: Choice of OS for Home Automation

I took would like to head this way as i could make use of lower spec
machines i have. My VB app has grown and it is getting sluggish
unfourtunately my Linux knowledge is almost zero.

Whilst the desire amonst HA'ers on the list is to have nice input/output
device in the HA system. I wish to have no user controls in my system and
have the pc automate things intelligently as i have done with my heating
removing timers & set points, summer/winter switch etc.

Although i have a colorful GUI with graphic LED's showing states they are
completely uneccessary once the app is debugged. A text based system under
Linux would be perfectly adequate. I just have no idea how to go about it.
