See if John Tankard knows any "heavies".

He lives in Yorkshire and could "send the boys round".

Sorry I dont have a more useful suggestion, its something that always
crossed my mind and however you work it there is always a possibility of
being ripped off unless you meet face to face for the exchange.

Ideally if you are seelling you want the money first but if you are buying
you want the good first.....but then so would whoever you were dealing with
:-(

Presumably the cheque would have been crossed and would have had to have
been paid into that persons bank account. Maybe the Citizens Advice Bureau
can advise on claiming via the small claims court or similar.

I hope it wasnt a lot of money.

I am much more cautious since losing my ?10 to Freebox
....or at least
...not having received either a box or my tenner back :-((

Has anyone any experience of non-delivery of goods bought through
auction at e-bay? My cheque has been cashed and the seller - a
private individual - has gone to ground. No response to e-mails and I
have no other means of getting in touch - no phone number is listed
(and in retrospect I feel very naive to have been so trusting).
Obviously I'm going to follow up with eBay -- any other suggestions?
The seller is based in Yorkshire, so knocking on his door is a 500
mile round trip...

Patrick
