To be fair I have very little in the way of automation actually installed at the moment. There is lots of kit in boxes, most of the wiring is in and I have started working on  front end software, but nothing is really in place. In fact my installed X10 is embarrassingly sparse compared with many here. I do have about 19 LD11s in two new consumer units, but they can not be connected up until all the lights and switches in the house are re-wired. My approach is to test each individual component, test each type of communication and install all the wiring, with that done the full automation exercise should be a simple case of extrapolation.
