This is very similar to a circuit I built. The modulation of the IR
carrier signal is done in software - you're effectively playing back
a digitised version of the original signal, bit by bit.
This is *very* sensitive to timing issues - on a windows box
reliability will be significantly improved by shutting down all other
apps - especially CPU intensive ones.

Building your own demodulator (or buying one off the shelf - does
Keith still have any TSOPS), and then digitising the signal without
the carrier and then later playing it back into Nigel/Ian's IR
transmitter (the famous HA IR extender) which includes harware to
generate the carrier would also improve things. It should be possible
to get this going with your existing software relatively easily...
