I have been using Gotcha! ( http://www.gotchanow.com ) on my
windows box
for capturing images and motion video.
I have been really pleased with the results.

You can save a jpg called lookout.jpg to the webserver each time motion is
detected and put a refresh on the webpage so that it picks up the new image
each time.

You could also try the linux package "Motion" which is hosted on
Sourceforge
I beleive. This takes images when motion is sensed (you don't say!)

It's very simple, but I know Nigel Orr was quite happy with it when I spoke
to him last.
