I would echo Stuarts comments - I too am about to start putting together a
new PC to be may main workhorse machine, and I will be going AMD Athlon or
Duron, because they are considerably cheaper than intel equivalents, and
reportedly outperform them as well at the same clock speed. (No personal
experience of this, but it is wideley reported). Win2K Pro will be the
primary OS, - i "may" put a dual-boot with 98SE on there as well,
just in
case - I always think it's worth having more than 1 OS on a PC - if it goes
tits-up.com then you can't as easily boot it up to fix it, or you can't
just
reboot to the other OS if you just >have< to get soething done
quickly.
(which, after all, is always when you discover a non-bootable OS anyway,
right?)
Personally, I wouldn't touch ME with a very long shitty stick!
just my £0.02 as always.
