hmmm, sounds like it's trying to connect to itself...? Have you tried
setting
up a dyndns.org address for the IP and connecting using that?

This is from the VNC faq:

"If using the java client, did you remember to specify the correct
port as
part of the URL? (eg. http://snoopy:5800)?"
