What I want is a small, touch-screen display that fits a standard VGA/mouse
socket (or, in extremis, comes with its own PCI card.)

Resolution of 800x600 would be good.

For use in place of light switches - default display a big button that just
flips the states of the lights in that room in
"wife-friendly-mode", with a
small button in the corner that goes into the main (web) menus.
