Re: Cat 5 for power



You already have my order for KAT5's, here I was interested in the use of
cat5 cable for alarm detectors and other devices that might need power. For
example low voltage external lighting (possibly switched by comfort),
irrigation controlled with solenoids etc. Also what effect if any is the
use
of idc connections within the run going to have. I would expect to have
cable from comfort (or homevision or whatever else I add to the cabinet at
a
later date) being plugged into the front of a patch panel, long cat run
from
the back of the panel to the back of a RJ45 port then a fly lead from the
port to the item being controlled.
