But "won't work with region 0" software has been out since the
beginning of the year.

All the current mods _don't_ act region-free, but act region-specific to
the region of your choice every time you choose to change it.

Warner Bros have come up with an extension to the DVD region code that will
apparently stop players that remove the region from a DVD from playing the
DVD.

Hopefully players like mine that actually change the region to match the
required one won't be affected.
