The "kettle solution" is to use a filter coffee maker (without
the coffee) instead of a kettle, controlled by an on-off relay.

Subject: [ukha_d] Household appliances which work directly using X10
protocol

Hi,

I'm new to the field of Home Automation with regard to using the X10 system
and I have a couple
of questions to help me make my life easier:

Have any of the large appliance manufacturers developed any items which
could be controlled
using X10?

For example:

Is there a kettle out there that can use X10 commands to switch itself on
just before I get out of bed.
I could use my existing kettle and leave the thermostatic switch on when I
go to bed, then allowing X10
to supply the unit at the correct time. The problem I see is that once the
kettle has boiled once
I have to go to the kettle to reset the switch.
As I guess I must be inherently lethargic this seems like a waste of effort
if manufacturers incorporate
X10 control philosophy into appliances. Hence saving me moving from in
front
of the tele when I want the kettle to boil.

>From talking to other people about this subject, I was interested in
whether
there is a exhibition or show relating to Home Automation in the UK? If
there is not a dedicated show is there a similar exhibition
which encompasses this field?
