He could also try Display Electronics or Greenweld (display.co.uk and
greenweld.co.uk, IIRC).  One of them used to always have a box in
their ads to convert an old VGA monitor into a composite video or TV
receiver.  Around £30 IIRC.  A copy of one of the electronics mags
(EPE etc) would doubtless have an ad for one of these boxes in it
somewhere!
