also make sure your running the latest service pack for what ever operating system you have, the Microsoft service packs for 98 fixed a lot of USB problems similar to this.

Its a Hauppauge one but a seperate plug in jobbie not a card

I have just acquired a USB WinTV unit, when I plug it into one of the USB ports the PC reboots, if I plug it in the other one the mouse freezes.
 
Any suggestions
