Where do I start??

Hi all,

I have been following various threads here for some time and keep seeing
great ideas, but where do I start?

I am a novice at this. We are building (if we ever get the foundations
down)
a 3000+ sq ft house. I am keen to at the minimum cable up while we have
open
walls, but I have very little idea what I want or how to cable it.

Home Cinema is a possibility, PC LAN will be in ( I work in IT), possible
distributed Audio and Video? I have no real idea about Home automation.

Can anyone recommend or even do a bit of marketing for themselves, as to
someone who can guide me through this initial understanding. I work in the
Thames Valley and live in Cambridgeshire so would be interested in meeting
anyone in this 1/4 of the country.
