I have an Engine Pre-heater that's rated at 3Kw (220V) plugged into a timer
in the garage that switches on every weekday morning. Trouble is; non of
the timers I have used so far have been reliable.

The first digital timer started to lock itself 'ON', so I bought a new one,
and let the original to go back to less demanding duties. Within weeks,
the
new one kept re-setting itself after the occasional switch on, thus loosing
the time and all the program settings. I'm currently using a mechanical
timer, but even this one occasionally welds it's electrical points
together!

Obviously I need something more heavy duty. An immersion heater timer is
the obvious answer, but It makes sense to me to go for an X10 switch that I
can control from indoors. Does anyone know where I can get an X10 switch
in
the UK that is up to the job? I'm handy with a soldering iron, so I don't
mind a bit of DIY if necessary.

Stuart.
