yep built several

an 8 card system will run on a 1000mhz pentium 3 at around 60% utilization,
chipset - last one I used was a intel 875 with a 3.2ghz chip, 2gb ram and a
raid 5 system - the system was WAY over spec'd and used about 2-5%
processor
utilization.
But then it was for other things as well.

Out of experience, I would always opt for an intel chipset with an intel
processor.
