Pity about the noise. The last PC I tried to install in the lounge suffered with the same problem, even though it was being marketed as a “home appliance” type device. Anyone reached the holy grail of silent PC installs yet ?

Back to your post – PowerDVD seems OK. No experience of WinDVD.

Cheers

Don

Well in the end I got the following:

SV24

Celeron 900 (cheapskate)

256MB PC133,

40Gig Maxtor 7200,

Pioneer DVD,

and a floppy

It came with all the cables/screws etc and a step-by-step installation guide.

Only problem was squeezing the DVD in, the power connector was snagging against

the PC IEC power connector, solved by using a right angled power adapter on one of the

power looms.

Got it all working yesterday, popped Win 98 on it, that's all my Dad needs :-)

It is a bit noisy - 3 fans - PSU CPU and case - performance seems good.

Now I just need to pickup a PCI modem and a software DVD player - any recommendations ??

I've downloaded the demos of PowerDVD and WinDVD - any comments on these ?

Nick.

My Dad  wanted me to build him a PC so my

order from overclockers has just arrived.

The SV24 looks really cute.

Just got to build it now.

Nick.
