I've led a couple of Notes rollouts. Both were for "real"
applications.
The first was for a genuine work-flow based application, back in 1995 -
about 30 users, 3 servers in three locations. The biggest server was a
486-DX2-66, with 48Mb RAM.
The second was for a simpler app, and we used Web clients for the users
(with Notes clients only for the developers). This was a basic
forms-filling app. The neat thing it did was present the form in one of
16 languages (including Greek and Polish which needed lots of non-ASCII
characters.)
In both cases we had a different product for email as well.
That's how you make Notes work ;-)
But as an email system - nah!

Notes *is* a virus. It infects the minds of IT managers, convincing them

it's a good idea, despite the evidence of their own senses, and against
