The cable company could undoubtedly "mole" the service so that
they wouldn't disturb your plants etc.

I think that you'll find that all the telecomms companies have
rights of access enshrined in their licences and any attempt to
extract unreasonable amounts of cash from them for access would
be frowned upon by a court, which is where any dispute would be
settled.

If they wanted to get naughty they could always erect an aerial
cable across your garden and legally you can't do a thing about
it, ISTR that it's called "flying wire" powers.
