Misterhouse has a database of barcode sites. You scan a barcode and then it
presents you with a series of links to sites that hold info on the item
scanned.

For example scanning a books ISBN barcode will give you
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=[isbn] which will bring up amazon's
details for the book.

Looking at the sourcecode reveals the following barcode sites:

BarPoint: Most anything
http://www.barpoint.com/frame.cfm?UPCNumber=$code

borders.com:
http://search.borders.com/fcgi-bin/db2www/search/search.d2w/Details?
code=$code&mediaType=Music&searchType=ISBNUPC>

Where type can be Music or Video

upcdatabase.com:
http://www.upcdatabase.com/item.pl?upc=$code>

UPS Tracking:
http://wwwapps.ups.com/etracking/tracking.cgi?tracknums_displayed=&TypeOfInquiryNumber=T&HTMLVersion=4.0&InquiryNumber1=$code

Fedex:
http://fedex.com/cgi-bin/tracking?action=track&language=english&cntry_code=us&tracknumbers=$code

$code is the barcode in the examples above.

btw, if you scan a tube of Salt & Vinegar Prongles at upcdatabase.com or
barpoint, they're mine :-)

hth.
