As has been discussed many times on this list the one thing about this method of control is that you are relying on a PC to do the work, not always a good thing! You can also use a dedicated controller like HomeVision or Comfort.

The CM12U can be opperated without a PC but it's little more that a programmable timer switch this way.  To get the best out of it you need to get www.homeseer.com software and use it with a PC 24/7

The curtain question is harder to answer.  There have been lots of posts on the subject..search the archive here.

Thanks

M.

2 general X10 questions for you all:

1. Computer controlling. If I buy a basic computer conrolled X10 kit,
do I need to leave the PC on all the time, or can I program the interface/
transmitter to automate and then switch off?

2. Related to the blind opening thread, the swish autoglide seems to be
discontinued. Anyone know of any other automated curtain systems that
are available?

thanks

scott

I looked for a similar sort of thing earlier this year but couldn't find any
online stores in this country but came across - http://www.mockett.com/ who
seem to sell just about everything.
