I know there's been a few questions on the UKHA and KAT5 Users groups
regarding the use of the KAT5s over a distance and their performance with
respect to rejecting noise.

I've just cabled up my DVD player to my bedroom TV which is a run of some
36
metres. That run passes through the mains wiring in the back of my AV
system
and winds its way around the living room and up the stairs (much to SWMBO's
disgust because the CAT5 is grey!), for much (if not most) of that length
the cable runs alongside other mains power cables and I am happy to report
there is *NOTHING* to show in the way of intererence at the far end.
(People
who know me will be aware of just how pi**ed I would be with even the
slightest trace of interference so I do consider this something of an
achievement.)
