Hi Peter,
Welcome to the group.
As Phil has already stated, KAT5 can be built to carry 4 Video Signals and
he has such a set. I have also sent a set of PTX/PRX (Projector Units) to
someone else. These have 3 video circuits and can carry S-Video and
Composite at the same time.
If you want an RGB set then email me at <a

and we will
sort the order out. It wont be for a couple of weeks as I am on holiday at
the moment.
Regards
Keith

Subject: [KAT5] RGB Kat5
I'm really interested in distributing my TiVo, DVD jukebox and
Satellite signals around the house. I have already had the house
wired with Cat5 as well as a TV RF point in each room.
Whilst I waited for the answer to my dreams (cheap video distribution
over Cat5) I have been using RF to distribute all these signals
around the house. I now have all my AV kit in a 19" cabinet in the
study and quality very much aside it all works reasonably well except
for the DVD player. I have to lay a very long RGB cable around the
house when I want to watch a R1 DVD on my chipped player, because the
S-video output is in some kind of NTSC format which appears as black
and white on my slightly ageing TV unless I use RGB. The picture on
the 12-year old TV is still as good as most modern TV's so I am loath
to change it.
So now I'm wondering how I can use the Kat5 units to move RGB to the
living room, or would I just be better off using a standards
converter to convert the s-video into "true" PAL before using the
existing S-video Kat5 units. Could I combine 2 Kat5's to distribute
RGB? Bear in mind that I don't really need to distribute the audio
as I have wired up the living room for 5 speakers running from the
amp in the central rack in the study. But I suppose it might be
handy to move a subwoofer signal through the Kat5 as well.
Sorry to ramble a bit, but my understanding of the issues here is
based on my very limited knowledge and anecdotal comments from much
wiser friends. I know where I want to go, but I seem to have got
myself to purgatory!
Peter
