Warning: Peet Brothers weather stations not recommended.
Specifically, their heated anemometer has an average life span of less
than one year. I have gone through three anemoeters; the last one
survived only five months after installation.
According to their technical support folk, the heater causes
condensation to form inside the device resulting in corroded contacts.
This is apparantly a very well known issue, but the heated anemometer
continues to be sold at a premium price.
Both the technical support and sales people recommend that when the
anemometer fails, customers pay to have it replaced with a non-heated
version.
Additionally, there is no warranty on repaired items. They are said to
work when they shipped back to the customer, but any failure after that
means that the customer must pay to have the item fixed again.
Buyer beware.
Allan.
