OT: United Nations Gun control

I had previously mentioned something here about the UN's efforts to
impose their ideas for a one world government which includes disarming
everyone except those in power and registration of all the rest of gun
owners. There seemed to be some interest here so I thought I would
post it.

For the first time in history, the United States government has bowed
before the United Nations with the Obama administration cravenly
asking U.N. officials to question our great nation on what a State
Department report confesses to be domestic "human rights" violations.

In submitting what amounts to an American guilty plea to the U.N.`s
Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Obama
administration has effectively unsealed the protections of our
Constitution to the predations of the United Nations.

Add to that the Obama administration`s agreement to aggressively
pursue participation in the creation of a U.N. gun-ban treaty. In
reversing President George W. Bush`s opposition to U.N.-mandated
international gun control, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
declared, "The United States is committed to actively pursuing a
strong and robust treaty that contains the highest possible, legally
binding standards. =85"

Included in the August 2010 submission of what the Obama-Clinton State
Department considers America`s affronts against "human rights" is
Arizona`s effort to enforce federal immigration laws=97laws negated by
the Obama administration`s refusal to seal our porous borders against
the flow of criminal aliens, terrorists and international drug
traffickers.

Until the "change" of the Obama administration, the U.S. has
consistently refused to participate in the farce of U.N. "human
rights" bodies that are comprised of rogue states like Syria and Cuba.

Remember Obama`s 2008 victory promise: "We are five days away from
fundamentally transforming the United States of America." With this
single step, he has shared that destructive effort with the United
Nations.

The fire sale of our sovereignty came with the Aug. 20, 2010 "Report
of the United States of America Submitted to the U.N. High
Commissioner for Human Rights In Conjunction with the Universal
Periodic Review."

A fact sheet posted on the U.S. State Department website explaining
the "Universal Periodic Review" should chill the heart of every
citizen who believes in the sanctity of our shores and the freedom of
"We the People."

It says the second step=97following submission of the "human rights"
report=97is what the State Department reverently refers to as "The
Review":

"The review of a national government takes place in a working group of
the [U.N. Human Rights Council]=85 Each country under review undergoes a
three-hour Q&A session webcast on the U.N. website, in which any U.N.
member is able to ask questions and make recommendations."

Any U.N. member can question the United States of America on our human
rights; Zimbabwe, perhaps, or how about Sudan, Iran, the Democratic
Republic of the Congo or whatever they call the brutish regime in the
former Burma.

"The reviewed national government is entitled to use one hour of that
time to present its report, respond to any written question it may
have received prior to the day of the review, respond to oral
questions, comments and recommendations from the floor and present its
conclusions."

I can give my conclusion right now. Why are we letting these people do
this to our country?

Following this public inquisition, a group the U.N. calls the "troika
of rapporteurs" will spend months in secret, preparing a human rights
review of the U.S. with final recommendations for the Human Rights
Council. This coming spring, American representatives, perhaps Hillary
Clinton, will appear before that body to receive international
criticism.

Among the U.S. delegation to the U.N. is recently appointed former
Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels=97a radical charter member of New York Mayor
Michael Bloomberg`s gun-ban cabal who ranks among the worst of NRA "F"-
rated politicians in America.

According to the State Department, with that final step in the review,
the U.S. "has the primary responsibility to implement the
recommendations =85 the international community will assist =85 in
consultation with the country concerned."

All of this is insane. We are the beacon of the world when it comes to
human rights. No nation on earth comes close to our example.

But this isn`t about human rights; it`s about putting the U.S. under
the heels of George Soros` global governance. It`s about knocking a
huge hole in the most impregnable border of all=97our national
sovereignty=97all under the phony excuse of "human rights."

A 2006 United Nations policy paper on "Human Rights and State
Sovereignty" declared, "Today the principle of respect for State
sovereignty, like other principles of contemporary international law,
should be interpreted on the basis of the Charter of the United
Nations and other international instruments. =85"

That manifesto says international governance comes into play "when a
State acknowledges the supremacy of international norms over national
legislation."

"International norms?" That phrase, often pushed by the likes of
Soros` global gun-ban groups, defines the forced disarmament of the
good citizens of Australia and Great Britain.

Prostrating our country and our people before the U.N. is an official
act by our government that has far-reaching consequences for the
nation`s 80 million gun owners.

By using "human rights" as a means to breach our national sovereignty,
the Obama administration has cleared the way for U.N. action on our
Second Amendment rights.

The U.N. is already using "human rights" as an excuse for domestic
civil disarmament, demanding powers to "ensure the protection of human
rights by preventing small arms and light weapons violence by private
actors." Private actors? That means private citizens. You and me. And
the real violence in all of this is the violence against our freedom.

Keep in mind that in 2006, the U.N. adopted a report essentially
declaring our Second Amendment freedoms to be in violation of
international "human rights."

The same human rights bureaucracy that the Obama administration wishes
to please demands that all nations adopt U.N.-mandated gun controls.

Those international strictures include draconian firearm owner
licensing, harsh criteria for firearm and ammunition storage, and bans
on broad generic categories of firearms. "Possession of small arms
shall be authorized for specific purposes only; small arms shall be
used strictly for the purpose for which they are authorized." All
other private possession would be criminalized. Further, under the
guise of "human rights," the U.N. has called for collection and
destruction of private firearms not acceptable under international
"norms."

Specifically ruled out as a "norm" for private firearm ownership is
self-defense. Try this:

"The right of self-defence in international law is not directed toward
the preservation of lives of individuals =85 it is concerned with the
preservation of the State."

In all of this, as the true nature of the Obama administration sell-
out of our nation unfolds, NRA members must prepare for the coming
battles to prevent and reverse the damage the administration`s
"change" is inflicting on American freedom and our sovereignty.
