this is pretty normal for those relatively new to the concept of remaining
armed. leaving it out where others can access is another issue entirely; my
advice always assumes proper firearms handling which is either secured on
your person or secured with a physical lock.

in actually, for a typical civilian a manual safety is far more dangerous
than not having one. please see
http://media.concealedcarryforum.com/safetyon.wmv for a perfect example of
why a manual safety is in itself dangerous. there is NOthing dangerous in
and of itself about a loaded handgun, even WITH a bullet in the chamber. a
manual safety can lull you into a false sense of security. the ONLY safety
that ANY gun owner should EVER depend upon is the one between their ears.

besides, i can promise you that your sigma will NEVER fire unless you pull
the trigger. the overwhelming majority of all shooting accidents are due to
those gun owners pulling the dang trigger.

the secret to being able to carry comfortably lies in the holster you
choose. the holster is just as critical as the weapon you choose. with my
VM2 (holster by milt sparks) sometimes i have to reach back just to make
sure the gun is still there. often times ill fall asleep without ever
thinking to remove it.

ive a video on my server (ill have to look for it) where a mans home was
invaded and he was forced to watch as his wife was gang raped. he owned a
handgun, but his wife made him keep it locked up. just food for thought.

if he was able to run from the living room to his bedroom i think he would
have had time to draw from his hip. sad thing is, we will never know
becasue he wasnt properly armed when his home was invaded.

it was not my intent to suggest that you should leave one laying out, sorry
if that was unclear.

carry is a very deep and personal decision that each man must make for
himself. i certainly respect the decisions of those who choose to remain
vulnerable (to the will of the bad guys who do carry guns), and i hope you
can forgive my efforts to encourage you to rethink yours. :-)
