Starting a Work From Home Business? Are You Mentally Prepared?

Do you dream of waking up every morning and walking into your office
while still in your pajamas? Are you seriously considering starting a
work at home business? The freedom and flexibility that accompany such
a position are hard to ignore. So many people desperately want to
leave the corporate rat race behind and enjoy making their own fortune
instead of someone else's. The dream is great and is a possibility;
but are you prepared to run a work from home business? There are a few
things to consider before jumping into it full force.
1. Too many people are looking to escape long hours at the office only
to find the same long hours at their home office. In order for a
business to succeed, you have to put in the hours. Working for
yourself means that it's up to you to accomplish everything, which
often means working more than you like. Be prepared for it.
The payoff here is that the hours you put in are towards something you
are passionate about, so you may not even notice the long hours. One
solution is to set working hours and try to stay in that time frame.
Working from home means you have scheduling flexibility, but setting a
certain number of hours aside to work each day will help prevent you
from working long into the night.
2. A work at home business offers many distractions. Since you will be
working from home, some friends and family may get the idea that you
are always available. Unscheduled phone calls and drop in visits have
been known to occur. Not to mention frequent e-mailing and instant
messaging.
Television, housework, and household errands also present big
distractions. A simple solution is to let friends and family know that
even though you are home you are still at work and are unavailable.
Household distractions are a little tougher, but remembering to keep
to your scheduled work hours will help you stay focused.
3. Don't forget that although you have ditched the traditional boss,
you still have a boss or several. Despite the type of business you
run, you will have some type of customer or customers. Successful
businesses are businesses that please their customers. Just remember
to always provide excellent customer service to each and every
customer or client and all should be fine.
Working from home is not for everyone. It does take motivation and
determination to make it work. However, if you know what you want and
are ready to face the challenge, then go for it.
