Sudden change of temperature
Sudden draught
AC or Heating cycling on & off
Balloons etc
Motion aiming at windows
Motion aiming at air vents
Insects inside the sensor
Pets
Loose wiring connections
RFI
Faulty wiring
Faulty sensor
Faulty control panel

Any of the above could cause an infrared to false.
