So what you're trying to say is ..... You've finally discoverd where
crotchety old men come from.

But ..... I know exactly what you mean. I put it in these terms:

You have no idea how much time you may have left to share with your
loved ones, without having to waste time dealing with the assholes.
Call them what they are and let them deal with it. I've got enough
lifes experience to be able to tell who they are pretty quick, so
there's no sense wasting time trying to go through the formality of
giving someone the "benefit of doubt" Treat them  the way they treat
you and then some. It's usually the only way you can't get the point
across. Anything less, makes no impression.
