OT - Driving in Vancouver

I was driving down the street today and stopped (as most are wont to do)
at a red light.  While waiting for the light to turn green, I happened
to spot a sign on an awning on the side of a building.  It said
"Japanese Straightening".  When the light finally changed I was able to
drive past the front of the shop.  OK...  So the "straightening" part
has to do with "hair"...
